These CD burning programs have inadequate much features for such an easy task of burning a single file (or a collection of two or three files) to a CDR. That's why dvd::rip has a very simple CD burning module.
One drawback of the simplicity is that you must set up the internal burning commands properly by yourself. There is no auto-detection or something similar. Check the CD burning entries in the Preferences window. Self-evident that you must have installed all the needed tools (mkisofs, vcdimager, cdrecord and cdrdao).
The CD type selection automatically follows your Video codec selection, but you can specify it explicitly, e.g. when you transcode your movie to different formats.
The File selection list shows all files from the projects AVI directory which fits to your CD type selection, e.g. *.mpg for (S)VCD and *.{avi, ogg} for ISO 9660. For ISO 9660 also .dvdrip-info files are shown. If you created ISO or (S)VCD images they also show up here, so you can select them for burning. You can select multiple files (with the exception of CD images, where this makes no sense).
When you select a file (or a collection of files) the label information fields are filled automatically. The values are derived from the selected filename(s). You can prevent overriding the Abstract entry by checking the box besides it. If you're not satisfied with dvd::rip's auto detection for the abstract, you can enter an arbitrary value here. The text in the Number field is appended to the abstract when passsing the corresponding options to the CD burning tools.
Although these general options are available here, they are in fact the same options you set in the corresponding preferences dialog. They're saved in your ~/.dvdriprc file and are not project specific.
You should take the time for a test run, if you use dvd::rip's burning module for the first time.
Choose the writing speed here. Presets up to 40 are provided, but you can enter arbitrary values.
dvd::rip suports on-the-fly burning, and burning a prior created image.
With this button you burn the selected files on-the-fly. If you have selected a collection of normal files (no image), the image will be created and burned to the CD in one step. This is not possible for (S)VCD; here you must create an image first. If you selected an CD image, it will be just burned.
An ISO or (S)VCD image will be created from the files you selected. When finished, the file will appear in the File selection list, so you can select it and burn it by clicking on Burn selected file(s).
These buttons open resp. close the try of your CD burner.
If you use CD-RW you can blank your media with this button. You can set a blanking method in the Preferences dialog. |
